The 50-Day Countdown To The Women’s World Championship Has Begun

In less than 2 months, the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship commences, and the volleyball circuit is alive with excitement and anticipation! Volleyball elite worldwide are currently preparing for the pinnacle of the 2022 national team, where the Volleyball Nations League’s top players and other qualifying stars from various countries will compete. We Love Volleyball and we can’t wait to see what this year’s tournament brings! 

This is the 19th Women’s World Championship. The 16 teams from the VNL earlier this year will compete for the world title:

• The United States (World Champions – 2014)
• Serbia (Reigning World Champions – 2018)
• Poland
• The Netherlands
• Korea
• The Dominican Republic
• Bulgaria
• Brazil
• Belgium
• Germany
• Italy (Reigning VNL champions – 2002)
• China (World Champions – 1982, 1986)
• Canada
• Japan (World Champions – 1962, 1967, 1974)
• Thailand
• Türkiye

They will be joined by countries from all 5 continents:

• Puerto Rico
• Kenya
• Kazakhstan
• The Czech Republic
• Croatia
• Colombia
• Cameroon
• Argentina

The championship will take place in Poland and The Netherlands with matches being played across three Polish and three Dutch cities between September 23 and October 15. The first ten days will see the 24 teams compete in 4 groups hosted in Łódź, Gdańsk and Arnhe. After each team finishes their 5 matches, the top four squads ranked in each group will go on to compete in phase two.

Played over 6 days in Łódź and Rotterdam, from 4 October – 9 October, this phase will see the remaining 16 teams divide into two in which each will play 4 matches only versus teams they will face for the first time. The top 4 in each group will make it to the final stage, which will be played in an elimination format. Quarterfinals will be held in Gliwice and Apeldoorn on 11 October. Semifinals will be held in the same cities on October 12th and 13th. Medal matches are set for October 15th in Apeldoorn.
